Yeah, if you're having trouble with burned CDs, there are two things you can do:
1.)Burn with a slower burn setting. This reduces the number of errors (there are like 52x burners out there, around 16-20x is good, though)
2.)Use different CDs. Cheap CDs won't last as long and have more chances of failing when burning.

Yeah, tried that. Even did a firmware update. The A6 Bose system simply will not play CDs burned on my laptop. CDs burned with my gfs and my computer at work play just fine. CDs burned on my laptop work fine in other systems, just the Audi Bose that gave me issues. Not a biggie for me because I have access to many other burners

I will try using different cds and see if I can't get it to work more consistently.
Thanks for all the advice. I will let you know if I can get the player working.

Yeah, I hope you guys figure it out. I use burned CDs so I know it CAN work. Generally (always) the best brand for optical media discs is Verbatim and i just used iTunes to burn mine w/ my laptop burner (Sony Optiarc blah blah blah). Obviously make sure to burn them as an Audio CD because mp3s and such won't work at all.

Thanks for that post with the error messages. I suppose the best thing to do is just deal with it, especially since I'm using mostly burned CD's.

I have had some success getting the CDs to play more consistently. I ejected all of the discs and used one burned disc. I burnt the disc in Windows Media Player on the "slow" setting. The disc plays about 90% of the time, which is a huge improvement from never working. The cd player still won't play commercial discs, which I find strange. I think maybe the laser is wearing out in the CD player. Thanks for all the ideas to getting some tunes back in the car.

Well, using different CDs only worked for a short while. Now the CD play just says ERR01 all of the time and won't play any discs. I put the CDs into another CD play they play great. Do I need to change the head unit or just the CD Changer?

It should just be the CD Changer because that's what is actually reading it and changing the CDs, i'd have to say you'd be terribly unlucky if your headunit was giving you troubles too (in relation to the CDs not working).

Don't forget that another one of the causes of Erro1 could just be a dirty/foggy laser lens, so the fix could really just be taking it apart and cleaning the lens with a cue-tip or something similar. I'd definitely recommend trying to clean it before buying a new one.

One place to buy (while supplies last): http://www.audipartssuperstore.com/c...roducts_id=998 (may not be your right model - make sure to check numbers and the such)

How difficult is it to clean the cd laser lens? I have not done that before.
If there is a way to fox it that would be great!

Not 100% but it might have to do with the cd-burner software. I have the same problem but with new personal cds. The old cds and original cds are working fine. I am curently doing a lot of tests with different softwares to see if i can find one that works...
