Car got keyed

RE: Car got keyed
LOL, that sucks. Well it depends on how big the scratch is on one side and how deep the scratch is. Lets say that its only on one door and the scratch is deep enough for your finger nail to get stuck in it, then they would have to grind down the metal and re-paint the entire door just about. So maybe about $800 to do the door.

That's really annoying.
My father in law had his car keyed, both sides, and the bonnet. Decided it wasn't worth the pain of fixing it and some other childish individual getting jealous and doing the same again.
Cost wise, not really too sure on US prices for fixing, but in the UK it really isn't worth getting it done. Even with insurance, the deductable that has to be paid isn't worth it. Better leave the insurance for really bad accidents.

don't leave the damage haha ... why would you do that ... It can start to rust!!! DUH!!!
take it to a body shop ... if you are in the USA MACCO if you cant afford a top paint shop ... macco woudl cost about 500 bucks to paint 2 doors ... i took a truck there a month ago and it was 1100 bucks to paint the whole thing
top paint shops will cost you anywhere from 1000 to 7000 depending on how much of the car needs to be painted

Post some pics, I'll give you an honest estimate. My father and brother have body shop, where they specailize in custom and classic car restos.
You cannot leave, it will rust. You should address it and remedy the problem before it takes a turn for the worse.

RE: Car got keyed
It depends on if the key just scrached the clear coat or if it made it to color or deeper. You can do a cheap test by just pouring some water on it, if the white line disappears when wetthen it's likely just on the clear coat, you can likely just buff out this type of scratch no problem. If the line remains white then it's too deep for buffing, at that point you'd need to look into paint.
Don't let an auto body shop charge you $800 for 5 minutes with some buffing compound.
