cam chain Tensioner timing belt problem
Here is the problem 2000 2.7t The timing belt has loosened and is slapping the plastic cover, this is the second time in 6 months. The last time i pulled the timing belt tensioner and replaced it the old one did not seem defective. It has happened again yesterday and i am now getting code 17927 which is cam timing problem bank 1. The question is can a defective cam chain tensioner be the problem causing the timing belt to become loose. There is no noise from the valve cover but i have not removed it yet. I cant believe i could have another failure of the timing belt tensioner already. any help would be very helpful. Roger
Update pulled valve cover and cam chain tensioner looks good no problem there. This one has me going cant figure out why timing belt is becoming loose.

well i removed serpentine belt and re tightened the timing belt and its running like it should. I am beginning to think it is another bad hydraulic tensioner. are there issues with this part the first on was from blauparts the second was an oreilys special. If this is the case i will by audi from now on. any guesses.

Timing belt so loose it slaps cover, but doesn't skip a tooth? Sounds like you lucked out so far. Skipping teeth is bad news as I expect you already know.
I don't think a bad cam chain tensioner would cause the TB to get loose, but rather just throw off intake timing, while (I think) keeping a tight timing belt.
Your propblem certainly sounds like a bad hydraulic TB tensioner.
