Default c5 2.7t. any advice

i have a c5 2.7 with abt 160k miles on it. i noticed the other day that its not as fast as it use to be when we got it 3 years ago.

so im deciding on getting that fixed and then upgrading some stuff.
this is what i have im mind

1. tune up (what do audis require? this is my 1st german car so new to euro)
2. timing belt, water pump, and some service to clean all the internals

3. i want to upgrade the turbos (to ko4?). what is required?

also unrelated...
but ever since i got my battery and alternator replaced (by dealer but autozone part) the fuze for interior windows and lights keeps blowing, what could it be?
someone told me that the dealer probably forgot to put a resistor back on. also the volt meter reads ~14-15 most of the time rather than 12-13 like the manual says.

Audis are expensive to maintain, but once maintained properly, they won't rouble you for long. I think even after 160k miles, if your engine seems to be running fine, do not attempt to open and re-condition it. As far as regular tune up is concerned, you can replace water pump, look for engine timing adjustment, filter change, brakes, coolant, oil, transmission fluid, wheel alignment, balancing and bearing replacement if necessary.

The fuse issue sounds like an intermittant short in the wiring somewhere.
The loss of power could be caused by many things, many of which will not turn on the CEL. Get the codes pulled and see what they tell you.

^^^

pretty much what both these guys said.

K04 upgrade is pretty much bolt on, after you spend about 20 hours pulling the motor to get at the bolts. Unfortunately, without dropping a bunch more money into supporting mods you will actually hurt your performance. plus with 160K on the clock, the increased power is likely to break stuff faster.

Timing belt and related parts needs to be done every 80-90k, so you are due. You're looking at $1000 from an indie shop or $1500 from the dealer. Absorb that first. I would not open the engine if nothing is broken. I'm at 204k and notice that power is not the same as when I chipped it 130k miles ago. I suspect my multitude of vacuum hoses need replacement -- these engines run hot and rubber does not last forever. A good kit (ecstuning, etc.) will run you $300+ plus a lot of DIY work -- I am sure someone will chime in to correct me or amplify.

I've been considering K04s for several years in anticipation of my oem K03s eventually dying. You are facing $3-5k at the low end and $8k at the top end to do it right. That's a lot to invest in a high-mileage 2.7T. And you can pretty much count on having to upgrade your clutch, which I had to do within 10k miles of chipping. That's another $2k.

Your cheapest power is a chip: APR, GIAC, etc. Don't forget the heavy duty diverter valves and throttle body boot. It adds a quick 60+ hp, but re-read what I said about the clutch.
