Burning smelling and occasionally smoke
Hi ,
I am an international student ,recently I got 2001 Audi A6 2.8L qutro (for my daily use )but after getting that only i found oil leak.when I took it to a mechanic he said there is oil leak from cam shaft seal ,and he also asked me to replace timing belt kit with water pump (as i can save on the labor charge ).but after doing that my car doesn't have oil leak, but i am getting some burning smell and occasionally some smoke .
mechanic said that's because the oil leak which was there previously ,oil is all over my car ,so i am getting burning smell when the car is heated up .
but i am disturbed about the smell and smoke ,will this be aproblem.. every thing else is fine in my car ,,since i am not used to audi ,please help me

It is very hard to determine what the cause of your burning smell is without additional information. It is very likely that what the mechanic is saying is true. I would recommend washing your engine to get the oil off around the exhaust area and see if the smell goes away. Make sure you engine is not hot when you wash it. Good luck!
