Brake noise?

Brake noise?
Ok, well today I bit the bullet and bought a very nice '01 A6 2.8 Quattro w/87k on it. Well, after test driving it about 15-20 miles, I made the deal. 30 miles into the 280 mile journey home I noticed a squeal then rub noise. We were on the freeway and couldn't stop, so my buddy stuck his head out of the window and said it sounded like something rubbing, perhaps the inner fender on the tire. Well we took the next exit, maybe a 1/4 mile away and checked it out. We figured that the combination of 70mph speeds and 30mph side winds may have knocked something loose. But, it then appeared to be more metal-on-metal sounding, and now only makes the noise at full left turn. There was NO noise earlier, and it doesn't appear to hinder the function of the car. However, I don't want to mess anything up. We "googled" the issue on a blackberry and saw that it may be the dust cover on the brakes. The dealer had the brakes and CV boots done right before I got, so may have bent something there. We pulled the wheel in a gas station parking lot and bent back the dust cover to ensure no contact. Then we noticed a little groove on the inside of the rotor, as if the pad isn't seating correctly and was wearing irregular.
My question is, what would be the cause of this noise? I would have taken it back to the dealer, but they were closed... Thanks in advance!

Try this it happened to me and seems to happen frequently. Behind the rotor is a shield it gets bent forward by mechanics when working in that area. You may not hear it right away because the paint needs to wear off first. All you need to do it push it back away from the rotor.
