Default Bad torque converter

Can anyone shed some light on what sounds/symptoms a bad torque converter might exhibit? The wife says her 95 A6Q is making an odd low hum only when the gas is applied. I drove it for about 5 miles after work and I can hear it also. As soon as the pedal is released it disappears. I'm just taking a stab at the converter because as we all know the list of potential Audi issues almost surpasses the number of useless politicians we have.

Thanks in advance for any insight and/or suggestions you might have!

If it was an obd2 vehicle there is usually a fault code 17125 when the torque converters seals internally go bad. Not sure on a 95 vehicle though.

It would be hard to diagnose over the internet without hearing the problem.

95's are OBD 1. There still may be some codes in the TCU but my 95 S6 was manual so I never had the opportunity to scan an old school automatic.
