98 audi a6 timing belt questions
I have a 1998 Audi a6 Quattro and i am planing to do a timing belt change.
I am going to order the following parts.

Do i have everything i need to do the job? Is it worth getting the Serp Belt Tensioner and Crankshaft Access PLUG KIT?

- Order some extra coolant (one or two bottles)...
- Serp belt Tensioner - check it for funny noises; if it spins smoothly and has no noise whatsoever, then reuse the old one. It's a part you can replace anytime, but then again - either you spend $ 400 (without rental tools deposit) or $ 458 (with the belt tensioner) does that leave you hungry? Even if you don't expressely need it now, in an year or so when you'll really need to replace it maybe you'll probably pay $ 88 or more - who knows with this f-ing economy?
- I would assume that stupid plug just keeps moisture or road dirt from getting into the crankcase (I don't have a 30v - on a 12v the same whole is "occupied" by the crankshaft position sensor). You should be able to inspect yours (driver side, in the general area below the engine mount bolts) and if it's brittle, then get a new one.
