96-A6 p1602 code
I can not get thru emissions in CT. I clear this code and it returns on startup. I have disconnected batt pos cable, checked ECU connections under pass side front carpet. I have searched this forum thoughroughly for correcting/eliminating this code permanently. Thanks in advance for any assistancce with this nightmare. geno

For a 1996 A6 Audi with the 2.8L AFC engine, P1602 is power supply (B+) terminal 30 low voltage, per Bentley. To test, connect the V.A.G. 1527 voltage test lamp to the ECM socket B10 (continuous B+) and to engine ground.
You may need the BentleyPublishers.com Audi shop manual CD, since it has the wiring diagrams. You may get the CD from www.themotorbookstore.com or www.themotorbookguy.com .

OC,
OK, it's 11:50p EST, we reconnected both pos and neg terms to batt. With key at on position for 10 min's, we waited then off-then started Audi. P1602 was still on Actron scanner. Shut off, restarted and p1602 still there. I do appreciate your response and suggestion.

a6hcw,
Thank you. My mechanic friend, I believe has VAG sys and presumably VAG 1527 test lamp, I will ask he test ECM socket B 10. Is the "ECM" the module/metal box my son and I found under the pass front carpet/plastic shield?? Thank you.

OC,
One other follow-up to your post, the batt is a VW/Audi type appears new, but I will check standing voltage, running voltage and volt off alternator in AM. My dash volt gauge has always shown better than 12 and under 16 for past 2 years. Thanks again.
