2008 Audi A6 Avant Service Suggestions
Hello,
I bought my 3.2 liter tiptronic avant at 40,000 miles and it is coming up on its first service. My first question is, should I really be waiting 10,000 between oil changes? I spoke to one independant Audi servicer who said that I should "absolutely not" wait 10,000 miles and I should be doing it every 5,000
Question 2, if I can find a reputable independant servicer who can provide the same service as AUDI dealership at a greatly reduced price, is it worth the savings to go independat, or have you guys found that Audi service is worth the investment?
Thanks,
Heath

Can't say anything about the V6 engine, but my 2006 A4 2.0T now has 176,000 and I have changed the oil at between 7500 and 8000 miles for the life of the car using Mobil 0-40W European Formular or German Castrol when available. Be sure to use VW 501-505 approved oils.

Thanks Dan. Great to hear you have had such success with your car. I certainly hope to have the same with mine. I found a 20% off coupon for my 55,000 mile service and it still cost $800!!! oh well, at least I won't need another big service for a while.

You can find an independent mechanic who can do pretty much the same things as the dealer for less. Make sure that they are european/VAG specialist. Although I do have to admit that any qualified mechanic can work on any cars, a specialist usually is aware of usual issues pertaining to our cars, like a dealer.
I would suggest 5000 miles for an oil change.
