Default 2005 Audi A6: How can I tell if car is prewired for Navigation

Hello all. I am a new Audi owner and I love my A6.

The car has the voice recognition software and a NAV button by the MMI. When I push it it says "not installed" or something to that effect.

How can I tell if the wiring is in place so that I can just purchase a GPS unit and CD and slap it in. Would love this feature.

Thanks in advance

My 2008 A6 was similarly equipped. When I added Navigation, the first step was to find out if the car was pre-wired for Nav. This is done by opening the compartment in the left-rear of the trunk. There is an equipment rack there. If the car is pre-wired for Nav, there will be a wire bundle hanging loose behind the equipment rack. It contains the antenna connector, power, and optical cable. It is a lot more time and money to install Nav if this isn't there.

Default No luck

I think I am out of luck

Not sure why Audi decides to give you a button and can't run some wires back there for you.

I'm kinda doin' this off the cuff...without looking at the parts bulletin or running your VIN. But I think you'll need the following parts for an `05 sedan w/MMI:

DVD Navigation Retrofit Kit(includes harness) - 4F0051322
&
Navigation Unit - 4E0910887K

Then you'll have to purchase the nav software from www.navigation.com. Your local dealer should have details pertaining to installation and programing.

Good Luck!
