2005 Audi A6 3.2 Quattro Crank Pulley Harmonic Balancer Sheared Off?!?!?!?!?!?!
Was driving down the express way today cruising at 60-65mph. All of a sudden the steering got really tight. Then the battery light comes on. Then the car almost starts overheating. Finally get off the road pop the hood and find a belt first then look a little further and see the crank pulley/ harmonic balancer sheared off. Call a couple dealers in the chicagoland area and no one has even stocked this thing. I talked to a service advisor that has worked for audi for 3.5 years and has never heard or seen this....... WTF When did Audi start making pieces of ****? Totally understandable if it had a ******* million miles on it, but with 59k on the clock I'm confused. If anyone has had anything similar happen let me know please. Audi of course does not want to help whatsoever. Thanks in advance for any help.

Well, could have been worse. Could have been your crankshaft gear!
Sorry that it happened. Whats the current warranty, 5yr, 60k? Is that even covered? At least it happened now rather than 5 months from now. Did you buy it new or used? At the dealer? The should fix it right up for you. Make sure your battery isn't trashed while they're at it. So long as the crankshaft gear isn't trashed (damper bolts sheared off) it should only be a day or so before they have it fixed.
If they don't decide to fix it then ask to speak to the manager!
Really though, hope it all works out.
