2004 A6 ABS Module, options?
Hi all,
I have been searching the internet for a cost effective way to replace the ABS module on my 2004 A6 2.7T Quattro w/ ESP. Most sites I find can remanufacture the Bosch 5.3 ABS module, but upon further investigation, it appears that model does not include the ESP, and thus not the correct module for my car.
I know there are several other 2.7T quattro owners out there, and was hoping you might be able to assist me in my quest.
what I have done: I had my traction control (ESP), ABS, and AIRBAG light on in my dash. I found out the AIRBAG was due to a faulty clockspring, so I had that part replaced. When i picked up the car I had a new light on, the BRAKE light was flashing (sounded 3 beeps upon ignition) and then my ESP and ABS lights were on (the airbag light was fixed).
I had the work done not at a dealer and the mechanic said he was not able to access the codes onn the ABS module, that he believed the module was bad. I then took my car to a dealer, had them run the diagnostic and they said "we can't read your codes, it is improperly coded, did you take it out and switch it?" I hadn't had any of the above done and they said their only action would be to replace the ABS module.
The cost to replace the module at the dealership was $600 for parts, $200 for labor.
Is there any other option? I can't seem to find the part number on the Module, but on the pump I have the following:
4B0 614 517H
any suggestions? I greatly appreciate your time and help!

Module Masters in Moscow ID may have it. Looks like the cost is about $300. I sent mine in from a 2001 A6. It all went pretty good except when I went to move the windshield washer fluid container the hose came off and it spilled everywhere.

A couple years ago I messed up my ABS by trying to re-wire my fog lights. Anyway, my indie shop diagnosed a failed ABS unit and quoted the replacement from Audi as $900. I encouraged him to send it out to Module Masters who tested it and declared it good. We re-installed and the ABS light was out and the unit worked fine. No idea what caused the problem, but I was very impressed with the integrity of MM who did not charge me for the testing.

I had same problem with my 04 A6 2.7T. I got a used one (part number you have is correct for the 4wd model) from Shokan Used Audi Parts for $285. Guaranteed 6 months exchange and fully tested. My garage will install it tomorrow. Hope it works and solves my problem. I have purchased several other Audi parts from Shokan and recommend them highly. Google Shokan and it will get you there.

I have a problem with my 01 A6 2.7T Quattro with Brembo 18Z BBK and also the brake pad warning sensor hans't hooked up with the pad, and the car had a faulty code 00301, said it is the ABS pump or something, just the screen between the rpm and speedo had a big red exclamation mark blinking. i don't know if it is the pump or the module is making the fault.
can anyone know is it the problem of the pump? or is it the sensor which makes the fault code came up?
hope for replies soon!! MANY THANKS!!!
