2002 Avant transmission problem (TCU)
I have P1830 Pressure Control Solenoid 4 Short B+ error and dealer told me that I need a new TCU or transmission. I decided to try replacing TCU first. My TCU number is 4B0 927 156 FF, but I found used 4B0 927 156 F. Does anyone know what is the difference and if it matter? Otherwise they looks identical, both for 162kW 3.0l engines.
Thanks

Aside from engine light with codes P1830 (or P2716) which I believe are the same transmission sometimes goes to "fail-safe" mode. Tiptronic is not working and all gears are illuminated on display (PNDS). After restart the latest problem may disappear, but check engine stays. No noticable changes in transmission operations. All gears switches fine. That's why I think it maybe TCU.

Hey, did you resolve your problem? I am curious because yesterday, I was accelerating and all the sudden my transmission slipped then caught again, but then right after that my ESP light turned on and now is staying on, and soon after that, my engine light turned on. When I put the car in drive it jerks kind of hard as well, didn't used to. It still seems to shift fine, but I do notice when driving it, the transmission seems to slip ever so slightly and I can see the RPM's increase and decrease very slightly, I've been babying it since the incident happened yesterday. If it was a manual transmission I would know that this was the clutch going out, but it's tiptronic. I am taking it to the mechanics today to get the codes scanned, but I would just like to see what I'm getting into if someone else had experience with this, thanks!!
P.S. It's a 2002 Audi A4 Quattro 1.8T

I am still trying to analyze it. Looks like some electrical problem. Transmission is fine, but I noticed that sometimes it goes to fail-safe mode with all gears (PNDS) illuminated on dashboard and no tiptonic and then engine light will come up. Looks like either TCU failure or connection. I tested solenoid D resistance and it is normal.

Ah ok, well let me know if you figure anything out. I figured out I think my engine light is on because of the MAF(Mass Air Flow Sensor) but that doesn't explain the ESP light stuck on. And my car seems to drive fine so i don't think it's the tranny.

I haven't figure it out and gave up. I did inspect and replace the whole Solenoid 4, but it was OK and check engine light stay on. Since nothing bad is really happening, I am just continue driving with light on and resetting it from time to time. I think the problem is in wiring and it is very difficult to track. The check engine won't trigger if I start my car from big stationary recharge center. Your TCU is front passenger floor/door location, don't remember exactly. Let me know if you can figure it out.
