Will bring it to my local mechanic to change it (for free), so thats why I want to get an Oil KIT.

Is the Pento High Performance II 5W40 any good for my car? Should I get something else? I do about 2000 city miles a month, and car has already 93000 miles on it.

Please provide links from e-tailers if I could get it cheaper from somewhere else, looking to place an order on 8/31. Looking for somewhat bang for the buck

Local Jiffy Lube charges 90$ for an oil change on this model.

Thanks.
Changing 7 quarts of oil with Castrol 5W-40 synthetic will cost about $7.49/qt, the washer about $.75, the filter about $10, so just the parts will run around $63. I think $90 is believeable when you add labor and overhead. I change my own oil not to save money but to protect my investment, oil change guys are not dependable enough for me. I also cringe when thinking these guys will dive in and unfasten my aircleaner top and open it and so on. Being an ex-pro tech, I know that the best guys in the shop are not usually changing the oil. I keep cars nice and like the pans wiped down to monitor leakage and things done very carefully, this requires doing it yourself. I also spray Ruglyde rubber preservative and lubricant on all the bushings and rubber parts when the bottom is opened up and so on. This simple thing will help keep bushing and boot failure away.

Full synthetic with filter costs about $50 here - add $10 for an extra quart and you get $60. This includes labor -shop and rag charges. $0.75 washer is extra.

$90 is a rip off.

Ok, where can you get the washer&drain plug for 0.75$ ? It's about 12$ + tax (10% Chicago) at Advanced Autoparts, and online it's about 0.80$ + 6$ shipping.

Also the Mann/Hummel 930/21 filter, is about 10$-11$ + about 7$ shipping online. Advanced Autoparts has it for 12.99$ + tax (10% Chicago)

Mobil 1 0W40 is about 7.49$ + tax a quart. Considering the 2.7T needs about 7.5 quarts, getting 8 quarts bring you down to: 60$ + tax.

You guys seem to be pulling numbers out of your ***, without any links to retailers.

Ummm...I am the retailer(dealership employee) and almost every 2.7t that we service gets 7qts. But I'd be happy to investigate the exact factory recommended capacity for you if you'd like.

BTW...the part# for the OE drain plug(w/washer) is N90813202...I'll post up the real MSRP when I get to work tomorrow(...wouldn't wanna be accused of pulling that price outta my lower rear orifice)

I got a Wix filter and I'm pretty sure came with a new washer, same with their fuel filter. I got it from rock auto at the time and their price was reasonable.

I'm mildly disturbed about where this thread has gone. The only other threads on audis that I've seen get this heated are about phenolic spacers and seafoam. Oh and there was that one thread about the guy who supposedly dumped sand into his intake... always a laugh.

Well the dealership... ok. Then again Audi dealership is 25 miles away, not quite in the mood to waste 2 hours in traffic.

I currently have two Dodges, a Model T, and an Audi A6. Almost forgot - and a Mercury wagon. Not to mention a lawnmower, a weed wacker, and one high performance rollerskate. (Your going to have to look back at posts from a few years back to see what that was.)

But that has nothing to do with your talking like a fool with the hijack stuff. All I did was reply to the things you said until you started bullying folks.

For the record - this is my fouth Audi. The previous ones were a 5000, 88 90, 89 200QT, and 95 sedan - all quattro's. My son was a service writer for Audi and I do 80% of the work on my vehicles myself.

I know exactly what it costs for oil, Mann filters and washers.
Just because your all flustered with shipping costs dosen't mean you have a handle on what things cost. Did you ever think about ordering all the stuff from one place to combine the shipping costs or getting off you butt and going to the Auto parts store yourself?

Maybe your no-charge mechanic can help you understand!

Maybe it is time for you to buy a Honda! LOL

Dont get all down on hondas. I currently have a 1981 honda accord LX that for its immense ugliness, lack of power, and absence of luxuries, I've come to quite like it . It makes my audi feel like a rolling castle suited for a king.

OK -- I officially replace Honda with Kia in that statement. LOL
