2000 A6 Air Bag Light
Hello,
I have another question I am hoping that someone can answer...
I just bought a used 2000 A6 from a used car dealer and after a few weeks the air bag light has come on. Do I need to take it to the dealer? I have driven the car for a few weeks and everything was fine. I have not hit anything and have not made any sudden stops. I am not sure if I want to take it to the audi dealer to have them reset it. Can I take it to a shop that specializes in electronic repair? Has this happened to anyone out there and what did you do if anything?
Thanks in advance for any help!

RE: 2000 A6 Air Bag Light
That "Air Bag" warning light happened to my 1998 A6 Quattro as well. But the used car dealer took it to his "fix all" mechanic --- he fixed Toyota, Nissan, Ford, GM....etc in his garage. He tried to clear the code by took off the ground cable from the car's battery. Some older Japanese or domestic car can do that --- by not the this 1998 and up Audi cars.
By doing this, the A6 will be stalled lots of times and according to his explanation, the Audi will be back to normal idle speed after go thru the "relearn mode" process. The car did back to normal idle speed later on.
Last week, my used dealer made an appointment with the Audi dealership and have them cleared the warning code. I think they charged about $45.
