Default 2.8 hard start when cold (20 degrees) then runs fine

Help. I garaged my S6 for the winter when I found a 99 2.8L avant,
When it is below 20, it takes about 15 trys to get it going, As soon as it starts, it runs perfect, Then if it sits for 8 hours. same problem
New plugs, and has thrown no codes.???
Any ideas?/
TIA

any errors regarding sensors appearing when you try to start it?

I had a rare problem with G40 sensor - camshaft position on 2.8 AAH. No errors when you get it running, but when you try you rarely can see this in VAG com.

coolant temp sensor, maybe a vacuum leak.

Coolant temps sensors don't seem to set error codes.
