1998 Audi A6 Quattro 3.0 Auto Very Slow Acceleration
I bought a 1998 Audi A6 Quattro and needless to say this is my first Audi. I have owned many cars of witch I do own a Passat V6 which has the same engine. When hit the gas in the Passat it goes. Today in the Audi I was at an intersection and I floor the gas pedal to beat the flow of traffic and found close to death as the car slowed on a left hand turn with now power. After a quick prayer and actually completing the turn the car began to pick up. I know its a 98 but that just didn't seem normal at all.
I had the car checked out and there were some vacuum leaks in the engine compartment. But other than that the car is fine (says my mechanic who fixed the vacuum leaks)
Its doesn't happen all the time after the car is running is has *****, but I am still confused because of the comparison between the Passat and the Audi. Any ideas?

Does it make any difference if you foot is on the floor? If I have my foot on the brake and gas at the same time, it will be slow for a bit as it shuts off four cylinders.
They don't want you brake torquing it I guess. It can be defeated by completly flooring the accelerator

When I am driving it goes when I floor it. However if I am stopped a light and lets say I need to make a left or a right (whatever) I will floor it go and beat a car from the oncoming lane. The car will not go it will ease almost like its in like 5th gear trying to move from a stopped position. But once I am on the road its fine. Its getting better, my guess is its a 98 and it wasn't really being used as much as I am using it now. But thanks Edo.

I think the 2.8 is around 3700-3800 and the passat is around 3400-3400
2nd thing the car you have is a 2.8. Not a 3.0
Is your Check engine light on? If yes, go get it scanned. If no, scan it anyways because some codes can be hidden and not cause a MIL.
But basically nothing can be done about the speed of the 2.8
It is only 200 HP and weighs 3700, and AWD

The passat you had before was most likely a FWD. The FWD has a different gear ratio than the AWD audi. And the passat is 300-400LBS lighter than the AWD 2.8.
