02 A6 4.2 Quattro with what feels like transmission slip
2002 A6 4.2 Quattro and it seems as though my engine will rev but it doesn't put it past the clutch. I've replaced the clutch packs and the dealer seems to think everything is okay but it isn't. Replaced the tranmission computer as well (so the dealer claims), no effect.
If I come to a rolling stop, or complete stop, sometimes when I push on the accelerator it just doesn't giddy-up. If I let up and push down again, or just smash it to the floor and hang on, it recovers.

Well, they changed the clutch packs (more than probably the fluid as well) and the TCM. You may think you shouldn't have anymore trouble.
There are (at least) two more things for them to check if they operate correctly: one of the solenoids in the valve body (for first gear?), and that Transmission Range Switch (TRS) Auditech79 was talking about in the other thread.
It sounds like it doesn't slip immediately in the first gear as you depress the acc pedal... or it could be as well your ... throttle.
You can try something else. Go in a place where there's no traffic....or even on your street. Try to simulate the same situation, but after coming to that rolling or complete stop, move the shift selector physically into the 1st gear and then try to take off. See if you experience the same symptoms (delay; hesitation).
If you don't experience the same hesitation, it is a possibility that the TRS is the culprit - as it would point to an electronic malfunction side of things.
Then again... you should look into the throttle body, as well (it may only need a good cleaning of the butterfly flap).

thanks chefro. I seem to remember
them changing out the upshift solenoids. Yes they did fluid too, that was where this all started with a fluid maintanence check and paper in the fluid.
It seems to take place immediately. The engine revs, by the tach anyway, but no power unless I let up and start over then voom hang on.
TRS could definately be a problem. Doesn't throw any error code but I'm pretty sure that's the Audi gremlin messing with me.

Apparently, a problem with the torque converter may be related to or cause failure of certain clutch bands.
