'01 A6: Are they legal?? Philips H1 X-Treme Power Headlight Bulb
Looking to get a brighter bulb in my 2001 A6.
Anybody know if Philips 12258-XVS2 H1 X-Treme Power 100% Headlight Bulbs are legal in the USA?
Or any other suggestions?
Thanks all!

Don't waste your money on halogen bulbs. Go HID, 100% legal, NO. But I see pickup trucks every day with illegal HID lights in them. If they can get away with it when 99% of pickups don't even have the option for HIDs, you will get away with it when 50+% of A6's came with HIDs.
HID Kits, BMW Aftermarket Bumpers & Lighting, DEPO - DDM Tuning
If I may suggest, if you want STOCK Audi HID look, get 35w 4300k bulbs or 55w 5000k bulbs. Go higher than that and you will have blue/purple lights. Also above 5000k and you start to get dimmer, so 5000k is brighter than 6000k and so forth.
One last thing, if you search DDM's website they sell a cheaper Raptor brand kit for 30.00 + shipping. DDM brand is worth the extra 10.00 in my opinion. 35w vs 55w, that you will have to do research on. I've had both and 55w is about 20% brighter.
