Rebuilt engine break in and service
My A5 needed to have its engine replaced at 17,000 miles. I already had the 5k service and the 15k service.
Audi put in a rebuilt engine, which they said was basically new. I assumed then that I should treat it as new. I assumed I would receive the 5k and 15k services again. Instead, the dealer told me that I should just proceed as if nothing had ever happened and just wait for my 25k service. Not even an early oil change.
I believe I should get the 5k service again, and the 15k. And really, what are we talking about here? A couple hundred bucks? To keep a loyal customer happy?
I'm curious what you all think. Would you be ok with just pretending nothing had ever happened? Or do you think I should treat this as a new engine and re-do my services? Thanks....

in "my" opinion, i would beat the **** of the car and do an oil change ever 5k. breaking in a new motor at high rpms was expressed to me in my early days when starting out as the engine will "seat" better and last longer.
i would do the first LOF at 1k to get the assy lube and break in wear out of the engine.
