I've been looking at a few A5s 2010 and up, a 2010 S5 and a 2009 A5.

I'm wrestling with a few questions

It seems like the A5s with the 2L L4 have a lot of oil consumption problems. I've also heard people think they are a tad underpowered. I like driving it myself but am concerned about the oil issues. Moreover, they seem to go for a premium in my area with 40k 2010s or 2011 going for between 30-35k. I'm not sure what the newer features are that I might get on a 2011 or 2012 vs. the 2010 and 2009 vehicles I list below but I might like them. Anyone know of differences between prestige packages from year to year?

Meanwhile, I found an S5 prestige with 48k miles for 37k. I'm a little concerned about having a V8 as a daily driver due to awful MPG. Then again, I'm not that concerned. I don't think it's a great deal, however. Link

Third option is a 2009 A5 here Saves me a lot of money compared to the S5 and the other A5s and I get a V6 ... with roughly the same mileage as the S5. I'm not familiar with the trims on the 2009 models at all, so any guidance on this would be appreciated.


Also found a dark horse candidate in a 2010 prestige CPO A6 with 13k miles on it going for 33k. I think it's the best deal around on an Audi and it's in the color I want but I'd really rather have the coupe.

Am I over blowing the problems with the 2L L4? Does the 2009 A5 or 2010 A5s have other quirks that make up for it?
