RE: Wtf, atw with 20mm wrist pins?
thats good to know. for future reference for anyone else, 034 also has a really great customer service. i got a package from them and ordered 2" silicon coupler and t-clamps. turns out you gotta get 1/4" bigger t-clamps than the couplers your using. totally my fault, but i contacted them, and Javad is shipping me the correct ones along with $5 and a return label, so all i gotta do is take the clamps out, put the wrong ones back in, go to the post office and use the $5 bucks to send it back. so this is not costing me anything. he went above and beyond what i was expecting.

Ok great, i also got in touch with 20 squared and they will swap out the rods for me. I was worried about having to pay a restocking fee but they seem like really nice people.

Yeah i think i talked to the other fellow, who then talked to john about the situation.
Also, my dad said that it was 200 to ballance the crank, i presume its the same as blancing the engine so to speak with the flywheel? I dunno do you have any insight on this and whether or not i should do it that would be great. It seems to be an option so i dont know if its important.

Ok, but kinda hard to say no and take my whole motor to another shop for it, thats probably what they thought when they were thinking about how much to charge for the service.
Is it necessary cincy?

So ive realized that the guy rebuilding the motor is getting me pistons for 350... Oem mahle pistons are atleast 700 from what ive seen. Im worried that they might not be as good or be able to handle the power. should i be worried?

That is SOOOOO far from the truth. Scats are much better quality and stronger than the IE's

IE = SCATS
IE = SCATS
yes, IE's are pretty much the equivelent of scats. sure the SCATS have 20mm pins. and IE's only have 19mm. but that's honestly not even a big deal considering the amount of power 99.7% of 1.8t BT guys make.. if you are keeping you stock pistons on 2001 and later years then there is NO reason that IE's wont work for you. well i guess they are only proven to what, 450+whp so far...
bottom line, there is no reason for 2001+ BT guys that drop in rods toswitch to AEB/ATW pistons JUST so they can run scats. your just not making enough power to justify it and push the limits of IE's..
IE's and SCATS are both drop in, and cost the same and will hold your power needs sufficently. they are equal

Guess you decided not to read the rest of the thread.
The taper design that is needed causes longevity issues. The owner/designer even claims so and even pauter said the same thing about their 19mm rods they use to make. They are unable tohold the same power due to the taper design, the 20mm pin rods IEeither just releasedor just about to release will be on par with scats.So again, the 19mm vs 20mm rods, the 19mm fall short every time. I never said IE rods were weak or unable to hold power, i even showed they can Soplease stop trying to start things when you have 1/2 the info and acting like i have said things i didnt
