Wtf, atw with 20mm wrist pins?
I got a phone call today, because the people rebuilding my motor, said that theforged rods i provided with 19mm wrist pins dont fit the 20mm pistons. I have an ATW motor, why did this happen?

Because all the AEB and ATW cars have 20mm wrist pin rods. You got IE's and not scats didnt you?
You could of just asked, i would of told you what you had. Not to mention the 20mm rods/pistons are FAR better

No way cincy, i talked to you about this not to long ago...
With a 2000 you will need 19mm pin rods. You can get a set of IE rods for about $300-320 (check ebay, 20squared, qedpower). If you hone the cylinders you will need new rings. This should bring back all the compression with a newish head. This will make your engine plenty strong for a gt30XX turbo.
Also, all this can be done with the engine still in the car, but easier if taken out.

And, i talked to auditech, pm'd him about this asking if these are what i need. where did i go wrong?

F' me!! That must of been a long day.[sm=headbang.gif] Thats all one me, im sorry. All 2000 and older 1.8t's are 20mm pistons, that includes TT's and VW's.
If you would of asked a couple days ago, someone in the turbo section asked and i said the right thing that time [:@]

Cincy, its not all bad, i gave the link to auditech too, and he said thats the rods he would advise to. So two mistakes, its not a huge problem. I did find another thread as well where baconbait said 19mm for atw as well.

Well im glad i wasnt the only one not thinking. Where did you get them from? Im sure most places would take them back w/o issue and send you some scats. I have scats and they are some beefy rods

Probably just be easier to buy the 20mm off 20 squared just in case they only give me credit or something of that nature. Unless scats are that much better and i should take the time to get them...
