Default Worn clutch on a 01Audi 2.8 quattro?

Hey guys, i am new to the forums so i guess this is my introduction. My name is stefan i just recently purchased a 2001 Audi A4 2.8L quattro. Everything was checked over by my mechanic. He said the clutch might be going.

I know many cars are different, Porsche manuals the clutch is very far out before it disingages, My clutch petal almost has to come all the way, The porsche was the same, and i know for a fact the clutch was not bad. Now my Girlfriends VW rabbit the clutch is half way. Now i know all cars are different, the rabbit is like a learners manual. But anyways to get to my point, is my clutch going or is it normally a far pull out before it engages?

I know AWD cars launch differently than Rear or FWD so this is why i am asking. The car only has 48k On it.

Thank you,
Stefan.
