Default working on my 99 A4

Hi all,

I have a 99 A4 1.8t quattro - manual tranny.

I am starting to fix it up and replace some faulty pieces and I need some help. Before you ask I did searches on all this stuff and I didn't find the answer.

headlights - some websites say we ate the H7 and some the H1, which one do I need? I saw the Philips nightguide headlight, and it looks awesome, I just don't know which one to get.

Oil plug - changed my oil for the first time yesterday (yay me) and I noticed that the last @$$hat to change my oil partially stripped the threading. I didn't look hard enough to tell if its the plug itself or the threading internally. Any thoughts on where to get a new plug that might be slightly bigger and rethread the oilpan itself?

loss of power/gas mileage - I have a vag and I get the running lean error message I am going to start doing something about it. Should I start with the MAF or the lines and check for leaks?

thats about a months worth of work for me, so i'll ask more when i get to it!

thanks

I have a 99.5 as well. Are the H7 bulbs you are talking about for the high beam, or the low beam (the projector bulb)? Also, I went to the philips site and saw several types of H7's. Have you found a color/shade picture guide to determine what each type of H7 looks like? I'm looking for the projector bulbs (low beam) with a xenon, hyper white type of look without converting to a xenon system.
Any suggestions? anyone?

All the bulbs are H7, except the useless foglight bulbs. If your considering upgrading to better lighting then spend the extra dollars for a real xenon kit. All the other stuff are cheap and don't have the lighting quality as the real thing.
For your drain plug problem get a new plug for the stealership, shouldn't be expensive, then have someone rethread the hole using a tap and dye kit.

Yup you want the H7's for your bulbs.

You can get a magnetic oil plug for $10 from ECS tuning here:
