Wobbling Sound from Axel! I think?
So I bought me an 2000 A4 1.8t about 3 months ago and when i got it had a very small wobbling sound. I figures it was road noise from teh rims, but as time has gone on it has gotten louder. I have determined that it is not the tire as i have put the differnet tires and 3 different rims on it, its not the brakes because the sound dosn't change when they are applied( although i can slighty feal the wobble in the pedal) All that leaves me is the Axel or the steering. When I turn the wobbling sound is the most pronounced but i can't feal it in the steering wheel. Recently my CV joint on the right side has began to click during sharp low speed turns. If anyone has any ideas please let me know or i guess i'll have to take it to a dealer. Unfortunatly there isn't an audi dealer here but we do have a VW and that should do. but if anyone has any ideas let me know. I appreciate the help.

No it's a FRontTrak, the gut i bought it from says that he had to replace the axel, so maybe he bought one off ebay and got a broke axel. Best i can figure is that its the axel though?

I agree with above. Sounds like a wheel bearing starting to go. Brake problems would only cause problems when you touch the brake pedal. When driving the car turn the steering wheel slightly to the side making noise. It should get softer. Turn the steering wheel away from the noise and it should increase. That is diagnostic of wheel bearing problem.

Hmmm.... well thats what it seems to do if turn to the right it almost goes away untill i get to extreme right and if i turn left it gets louder. Alright so I'll check out them wheel bearings. Thanks for the help
