Why am I getting such bad Gas Mileage on my 2003 A4 3.0???
I bought this car yesterday and I love it. I am getting very bad gas mileage though. I should be getting 18 city and 25 highway. I got around 13 mixed driving. I drove it very smoothly. Rarely did I ever go over 3000 rpm, usually shift at 2500, and I cruise in the 6th gear a lot. Occasionally I'll let it go 4-5k rpm for a few seconds off of a red light.
I am going to the dealer tomorrow, is there anything specific I can tell him to take a look at?
I am a bit pissed because with my old accord I would get 430 miles on a smaller fuel tank (15 gal), and with my Audi now I get like 230 miles on a 18.5 gallon tank (I understand it is a 3.0, but still). If I could just get 320 I would be happy...
If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it.

Check your tire pressure and alignment... are you using 91-93 fuel?
Also, an exhaust or cleaning your air intake would increase gas mileage if you have an interest in that.
On the downside though, 3.0's aren't known for great gas mileage[&:]

you should deff be getting better ialgea then that, i have an 02 3.0 and its get 330 per tank. Deff have it scanned for codes, run some fuel injector cleaner get the enigne cleaned run some seafoam in it for like 500 ish miles and then change the oil. Change the gas and air filter i did this and my car is getting better mileage and performance.but deff get it scanned for codes

Def. would check your tire pressure... Also let go of the wheel on a flat surface and see if yourcar sways to one side... Your suspension and steering components also play a role in possible causes of bad gas mileage... I constantly see friends of mine talk about bad gas mileage but when I run their tire pressure they're well below what they need to be at... I then put in some free airand they think i'm a master mechanic... Cough
