I have an Audi A4 1.8T that has been fine until today, it has 86,000km. It started out of no where to discharge huge clouds of white smoke that have burning smell to it. The power has also gone down when I accelerate. I took it to the mechanic and he informed me that I need to change the entire Turbo which will cost me 2000 BUCKS just to purchase it. I need to know for sure this is the problem. Has anyone been able to solve this problem before, pls help

 

Your problem is turbo. Mine is in shop and is turbo also. Seals and waste gate was messed up bad.

 

You can actually pickup a new Borg Warner K03 Turbo from ECS tuning for about $700. That is the OEM Turbo.

 

I'm k03s and what makes it worst just heard from shop. And guess what!! Turbo is fine it's my valve seals and cam chain tensioner. Looks like I'm going supertech Complete valve train kit.

 

So are you saying the problem wasn't turbo anymore? how much did it cost you to fix the problem? is that car okay now? what's the difference between the KO3 AND k04. I have a 2001 AUDI Quattro 1.8T. Which turbo should I buy?

 

Yor correct the turbo wasn't my problem. I haven't gotten it fixed yet, I need a new engine cuz of my mileage on old engine. 192k not worth fixing it. Car is runable I just don't want to drive it. The difference between the tiny k03 and the k04-015 is the k03 has a small turbine and won't push out as much hp than the k04. If it was me having to buy a new turbo is buy a k04-015 for a direct bolt on. It will cost you about $1,200 for the turbo but 034motorsports and apr are having sales on their k04s. Best of luck to you, I'm trying to find out if a 2.0T engine will fit in my 01.5 Audi a4 sport package. And will run my k03s turbo on it.
