My engine light came on today and ive noticed that when i accelerate the car makes this rattling noise, so i prolly need a new cat. my over 80,000 miles so i know is not under warranty anymore. So where do i find one?

 

dont just assume, find out what code it gives you and then change the part.

 

Go to autozone, use their vag(free) to scan for codes....after you have gotten the codes....post them here and we will be able to actually approach your problem...You drive an audi! they are known to throw a check engine light for farting to loudly....hopefully you wont need to replace your cat...good luck!

 

i have the same car with the same miles, mine doesnt do that at all, i guess im lucky but ya enver assume when it comes to these cars cats are cheap and if you replace it and that doenst fix the problems yull feel stupid, it also could be a ripped flex pipe or bad muffler hanger, get under there and take a look around.

 

I alreadytook it to autozone and scanned it dont remember the code,is the second time i gotten the same code something about catalytic converter not warming up, person that had the car before me used shitty gas didn t take care of the car. ill check the exhaust.

 

Could be as simple as a loose heat shield. This time get the actual code numbers and post them here.

 

P0421....Warm Up Catalyst Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1) i think this is it, ill scan it again today.
