RE: when should the timing belt be changed?
i had mine change around 92k miles and when i saw the belt with my own eyes it has some cracks already and my water pump was freezing when u roll the bearings. a week more run and its gana snap. urs is preet safe but i would reccomend for u to have it change now. also change the water pump, tensioner, idler roller etc...u can buy the whole kit at ecstuning.com or i think mjmautohaus is selling it cheaper. i had mine from ecs no problems whatsoever

its not past due but its getting on time, 75-80k is the safe time to change it, i think audi recommends 90-100k
i am at 75k as well and just got my kit in... just havent decided when to tackle it.... got mine from www.purems.com.. cheaper than ecs...

Add one more voice to the chorus.....it's time you got down and dirty with the timing belt. And water pump. And everything else under those covers. I just did the A4 at about 90K miles, and while the belt wasn't horrifically worn, it was starting to show some signs of cracking. The belts lead a hard life. We can be nice to them
www.blauparts.com has a nice kit available as well.
