I've heard the same thing about Pennzoil and how much it sucks. I would trust either Mobil 1 or Castrol up to 100k, and after that, it'll be Amsoil.

No one else uses Lucas fluids??? I would have thought more people would have. Is there a reason fo this? I have always liked their product but just expected to see more people using it.

 

Lucas is better for large displacement engines like a chevy or ford V8 with large oil clearances and major oil leak problems. Audi has a lot tighter oil clearances so adding a thick agent to the oil isn't exactly the best thing for it.
Thats if you using it as an additive of course.

 

Mobil One 0w-40.

 

Nope not using a additive. I use the Lucas Synthetic 5w-30 in the G35. Have not had to do a oil change yet in the Audi but will be using Lucas Synthetic when I do.

 

Pentosynth 5W40 in the A4 1.8T (Indie changes). Valvoline Synpower 5w40 in my Passat 1.8T (I do those). Both on the approved list.

 

that oil list does'nt include amsoil....but on the bottle of amsoil( euro formula) it states..vw 502 00.....so is it ok>?????

 

Mobil 1 0w 40 for my first Audi oil change. I use Rotella in all my other cars,track cars,bikes and race bike included and never ever blew an engine,had oil consuption problems or anything of the sort. Rotella non-sythethic 15wdiesel blend is the only oil i trust with my race bike singin along at 10-14 thousand RPMs for half an hour to an hour on end, stopping for half an hour then doin it all again. Did the valves @ 30k miles and the valve train looked mint,no gunk sludge or other crap. If i could get Rotella sythethic in the 5w or 0w formula near me i'd get it in a heartbeat.

 

I would rather trust Audi's list over whatever Amsoil has on their bottle... but don't get me wrong, Amsoil is good stuff.
