Default What about performance #'s/ chipped k03 vs k04

Ok - so I'm a noob here but I've researched a ton so don't flame me
I own a 1998 1.8t quattro tiptronic

I know that I can get an extra 40-55hp with a chip and a k04 will put me somewhere around 225hp. I've looked at all the dyno info. But what can I expect to see on the street side? What numbers should I be putting up?

0-60 and 1/4 mile times please

I want to see if the extra $ for the K04 will be worth it or if I should just stick to a chip and a couple other mods.

Feel free to post bragging rights - please include "major" mod list with times

Check it out and tell me what you think of My Car

This is covered all the time, seek and you will find.

Your car looks nice and clean.

Chip and exhaust will get you started. If you really want 1/4 times you need to go Big Turbo, like bigger than a k04.

Do chip, exhaust, drop in k$n filter, then wheels, then coilovers, then brake upgrades, then clutch and BT. By then your wallet will be a lot lighter, and your car much faster!

Welcome!

Hmmm but putting all those mods and put him in that HP range will trash his tranny right? I mean it is a TIP it can only take so much for so long.

Yeah, tiptronic........replace the "clutch and BT" with "k04 and supporting mods". The tip cant handle the power of the BT's, so I have heard as well.

AWE quotes 235hp with their k04 & software upgrade - 247 if you get the more aggressive file. what "supporting mods" are we talkin about here.

And yes the reason that I would never go BT is that I have at TIP

I'm just looking for info on what kind of #'s I can expect out of these two different setups

Well for my B6 I think im just going to go with the APR and the biger injectors thats listed on the site. It should be around 229hp/271lb-ft with 91 OCT. I think that is about as much as i need to upgrade. Well other then the exhaust as well.

Other supporting mods would be exhaust, intake, intercooler possibly, dv.

if you do the more aggressive file w/ K04 you will need bigger injectors, FMIC, exhaust, DV, atleast K&N drop in. k04 is the biggest i would go with tip.

What amount of hp would start to effect the longevity of the TIP?
