According to VW/Audi, the only acceptable 502.00-certified Mobil oil for the 1.8T is Mobil 1 0W-40. The 30-weight stuff is arguably too light, although it may be OK in winter.

well there is a problem here. 0w-40 is much much lighter. its like liquid.

its thinner at ambient temps, but at opperating temp its substantially thicker...

Yea 5W-40 is kinda light, I use 10W-40 in the winter and 20W-50 in summer. Make sure you go with synthetic oil, they're the best.
