Default Weird noise

Hey,

When I hit a speed bump or a large pothole, I here this "clonk" sound from the front right (I think) side of the car. Is this something critical? I know it's vague, but any ideas?

Thanks!

could be control arms, sway bar rubber,or loose brake pad, jack up the right front ,use a jackstand ,then pull up on wheel while a friend looks to see where it is,if it is a brake pad loose,go over a bump with brake applied lightly,if no noise its a brake pad,but its prob. the control arms

I had the same thing, It is either the Tie rod or control arms. They have bad seals and tend to fail causing movement from deterioration.

Very bad control arm, or bad tie rod end. Common failure on these cars.

Just out of curiousity, my squeak comes and goes. How long can you go without doing them? I wanted to do the TB first.

I have a C4 A6Q 2.8 (1996). I also hear a clunk under the car when I go over bumps. Not all the time, though. It is like a bop/clunk from under the car. Also, when going about 30 mph around a left-hand bend, I get a slightvibrationin the steering wheel.

I know for sure that the rear control arm bushings are shot, but I checked the front, and they LOOKok, but I'm not really sure. I thought it was the sway bar bashing up b/c of a bad bushing, but they too look ok.

any ideas?

hi,
i have a slight sandy, airy, grinding noise on a my a3 2.0t dsg when switching gears during medium acceleration. its hard to determine if its a problem with the turbo or the tranny. the noise doesnt come out during excessive acceleration or slow acceleration. just kinda in between. went to the dealer and some mech said its the diverter valve however i stillget that kinda sound when im on 6th and trying to accelerate withoutdownshifting. dont DVs work only when switching gears like blow off valves do? anyways that sound is driving me nuts. butallthe audi dealer keeps tellin me its normal. the sound kinda comes up a second before the gear shift and ends a second after. please help me out. its a brand new car and im trying to get audi to fix the problem but they keep denying it. maybe there really isnt a problem? anyone else have the same issue? or know what this may be?

Hi:

What year is it? Bran new, like 2008? The 2008 cars have new tranies in them. 2007 Has yet other tranny. And, older than that is still different again.
