Are we being ripped off
Hi,
We recently had some trouble with the AC in our 2002 Audi A4. When we turn the AC on, the car shakes violently (Radiator/compressor trouble?). we took the car to the dealer who initially claimed that a rock broke the cooling fan and upon questioning that claim, the service guy said the entire connected parts look damaged and quoted around 1K to fix everything. They offered to talk to our dealer with whom we bought the car to find out if any damage went unreported.
Our car is certified and out of the original factory warranty. Can any serious damage go unreported in a certified car?
Any suggestions greatly appreciated

Not really clear about your post.
If when you bought the car, you didn't have any problem, then it probably broke after you bought it. In that case it wasn't that they missed anything in the certification process. It is possible that they missed/didn't check something though.
I would think that you could replace your fan for less than $1k especially if you do it yourself.

if ur saying the car is certified then u must have warranty on it till 100k miles, and the max u would have to pay is the deductible which is $50. thats how much myn was..call the dealer where u bought the car from and find out about the warranty.
