Water pump belt question

RE: Water pump belt question
Either the belt is too long or you may have the plates on backwards on the pulley. I know exactly what your talking about the plates, cuz i almost did that myself. But, isnt there an odd bolt pattern for the pulley so that it wouldnt bolt up right if it was on backwards??? I cant remember.

RE: Water pump belt question
Yeah, I did this a week and a half ago.
I had the plate on the pump side backwards.
I took off the bumper, rad, and fan, removed the belt and plates, and put it back on the right way.
Everything is tight now, belt is not loose, etc. My fekup cost me about 3 hours of work, but I am just getting to know this car better and better! We're like old friends now!

RE: Water pump belt question
Thanks, yeh, old post but like I said, I just installed the waterpump last night and I'm putting things back together tonight and didn't want to repeat someone else's mistake. Problem with these forums (universally, not just audiforums) is that everyone talks about their problem and what they are going to do to fix it but nobody ever comes back and says if it worked or not or how well it worked so thanks for the update ace.
