Warning Light Question-- help!
I didn't get a manual with my 1999 A4 2.8-- there's an orange/yellow warning light on in the center panel that looks like a circle with an X that extends past the circumference of the circle-- and the circle looks like it has a little hat on top of it between the upper arms of the X. Can anyone tell me, either off the top of their head or from the manual, what this symbol means? Is it an emergency or can I wait a few days to take it in? Thank you SO much, I really appreciate it!

It sounds like the bad bulb warning. If I'm correct, it means one of your bulbs is bad or has gone out. Unfortunately, it doesn't say which bulb. It could be a taillight or, like mine, one of the license plate lights that burned out.

Yes, something is wrong. Unfortunately, only Audi can check the sytem and reset the light because of the complexity of the sytem - it is too dangerous to attempt to correct the system without expert knowledge. Even Ross-Tech does not recommend using the VAG to service or adapt the Passive Restraint System and Airbags unless you are a trained Audi tech.

Actually, I think I may have found the answer to my question by searching the archives, as you suggested I do. I think the air bag warning light on my panel means the passenger side airbag has been disabled by using the manual disable feature (not found on all models) inside my glove box. I will check if that is the case. If it is, I must say that is a nice feature to have, and this forumn is quite helful. If you know anything more about this, or about other cool features of a '99 A4 that are not readily apparent, I'd love to hear them.
