wanting to know bout A4s
Hi Everyone,
I just purchased my 1st car and it was a 2002 a4 quattro 1.8. Luxury, turbo, and all wheel drive, what more can I ask for? But I've recently came upon some negative posts bout audis and I was wondering if yall could let me know if theres any known issues with this model.

I'm sure if you do some searching you could find some conversations about problesms, but here is my two cents:
Problems that occur on Audi’s are typically more expensive to repair, since 1) the cars are foreign, and 2) You can find a few more Civics then A4’s on the road. I believe that because of the added cost, people have the opinion that they have more problems. I don’t believe that – Audi doesn’t have a reputation built on building crappy cars. I believe (or want to believe) that as long as you take car of your car, it will take car of you. (Just keep a little dough around just in case)

I totally agree with you on taking care of your car, your car will last as well as you take care of it. Ive done partial research on edmunds, nhtsa, and random websites, main issues that ive seen has been electrical issues. Another reason y i chose this car is because unlike other audi models, its the only model ive found that doesnt have any major recall on the nhtsa. I just wanna know about any significant or common issues with this model and year..,,,,

Use the search, sir. You'll find all your answers there and more. It's a valuble resource. Plus, don't you agree that it is just so satisfying to find the answers to your questions by yourself??? Self teaching is a wonderful ego boosting trait to have. Chicks dig it. So In algebraic terms, by using the search, you could actually get yourself laid.

I think that people just exaggerate on reliability, paying small amounts to maintain jap cars vs paying a grand in repairs over the course of a year for an audi. ( I hope not more haha)
I just hope audi is a little better than mercedes, because the ML55 so far cost us 3000 this one year. Crossing my fingers here for reliabilty.

Just follow the maintenance schedule, and it will be good to you.
There are a few common failings.....control arms, etc, but overall these are excellent vehicles when well maintained.

I was about to be ur typical asian and get a bmw. But I guess I was destined to be an audi man

RE: wanting to know bout A4s
Got me an '02 A4 QTMS in October '05. I love it and think I'm an Audi lifer.
I like to get my hands dirty with my vehicles but haven't had the chance much since I left the nest and struck out on my own several years ago. I've started come full circle and have gotten back into it. So far, I've replaced my plugs with coppers (i have a post w/more detail), got a K&N (also a post) and just put in a 710N (I hate one time use hose clamps).
I've had two problems so far. The first was a CEL for a cylinder misfire, which went away after my plug replacement. The second was a couple of error codes that turned out to be a vacuum hose (yes, another post).
All in all, I love this car and think it's the best thing I've done for myself in years. You made a wise decision...
