Want to replace timing belt myself.....

RE: Want to replace timing belt myself.....
I know eh, its hard to find it... it shows up in their "featured items" thing that populates in their home page... I dunno if the "featured items" is random and changes with every refresh or what... but I sure couldnt find it in any of the sections (like the section that has the upgraded motor mounts).

yea, it used to be in the 'engine' category when you browse by model...that's strange.....yea, the 'featured products' page changes each time, i guess that's the only way to find it now.......i think the greedspeed mount is so much cheaper because it's an oe part from an older model audi that they probably got a good price on (i may be wrong about that though)....but they are all just polyurethane bushings (stock is rubber, which is why these are so much better)

RE: Want to replace timing belt myself.....
the only snub mount that i've heard any complaints about is the apr mount, i've heard it's a little stiff and causes vibration when it's first installed. installing it can be tricky too, because of how stiff it is...i have the greedspeed snub mount...but unfortunately it's sitting in my toolbox right now, patiently awaiting installation....i didnt know about changing out the snub mount when i did my tb

Yes ... get two pieces of 8mm threaded rod, about 12" long each and you're home free. Same difference for $8 instead of $50. Do yourself a favor and get the ECS Tuning Timing Belt kit with water pump and everything you need. The only thing they leave out is the o-ring between the pump housing and the block, so you might want to get that.

This is good for AEB and ATW engine codes.

Yes, there is a LOT more vibration with a snub mount and a tiptronic. If felt like I had a bee's nest under my gas pedal, until I adjusted it.
I would suggest that if you are doing timing belt, that you replace the front engine cam seals.

RE: Want to replace timing belt myself.....
Is the vibration not so much an issue on a 5 spd car?
EDIT: and yeah, I might change the cam seals on my SECOND t-belt change... right now the car has less than 60K on it... so I'll just do it next time around.
