I didn't have the right tools to put holes in the dust covers.
Yeah.. I have no idea what youre talking about, but Im sure Ill find out soon enough. A dremel sounds like it will work for that.
dremel will work fine. the instructions are actually pretty decent for something from hong kong, but you know where to ask if you can't figure it out. [8D]

Where did you mount your balasts?

wherever I could, I just used cable ties and attached them to whatever was handy. eventually I'll remove the headlights and velcro the ballasts to the undersides of the lights, but that's a project for a day when I've really got nothing better to do.

Not a bad plan. To be honest, as akielb said, it does look bluish/purple in the housing, but on the road the light is very white. The 4300k kit will give you a more white look to the headlight itself, and the beam will be blazing white on the road in front of you - literally like daylight (after all, natural sunlight is in the 4100k color temp range). I love the 6000k kit personally, as it satisfies two desires of mine with the lighting - one, it is a HELL of a lot better than halogen, and two, it looks distinctive (styling is a nice side benefit, but make no mistake - safety/visibility is the best reason to get the lights). You know that though.

Check the site again - direct from them on their site, the kit is $57.99 plus shipping (whatever that works out to be).

Yeah I was reading on what color temp is most compareable to natural light. Thats one of the reasons I chose 4300k. Ill also feel much safer at night which is totally worth $80.

It sucks for some of us since these things have basically plummeted in price. I got my kit from Less_of_me for $100 shipped since he ordered the wrong bulb size (he had HID ready ecodes so he needed Ds2 bulbs) at that time the it was $130 shipped from their site. But glad everyone is getting these - You'll be amazed at how yellow everyone else's lights look.

You're not kidding. I put the 99.5+ lower foglights on my 99 (with fogs built into the headlamps) and the halogen fog bulbs look canary yellow compared to my HIDs. Of course, considering VVME has the HIDs for $59 now, there's a set going into my fogs shortly...

4300k is a ridiculous amount of light (I mean that in a good way). Honestly, with halogens I feel that the A4's low beams are so bad that a 14,000k kit would improve them. With 4300k you'll see every animal eye, signpost, mile marker, hash mark, cigarette butt, and coffee cup on the road from you to the horizon, and they'll all be blazing back at you. I may get a 4300k kit for my high beams just because they're so inexpensive now (already have a matching 6000k kit coming for my fogs). Check with VVME for their shipping price from the site - it may end up being less than $80 shipped from them.
