Very loud noise when slowing down and turning
Hi I recently bought an 02 A4 Quattro Auto and whenever I turn to the right or left I hear a very loud humming/grinding sound. I hear this sound whenever I'm driving below 40mph and even when I'm parked. Has anyone else experienced this and how did you fix it?
Thank you and any comments are appreciated.

"Do you hear the noise when turning the wheel, with the car still?"
Yap, when car is still I can hear this sound.
"Have you checked your power steering fluid? If it is low it will make a humming sound when you turn the wheel."
The steering fluid is full and it's clear. I really thought this is the problem until I checked it. :-/

I'll check it out, did you hear it when you turned or it was a constant noise.
This is something that I noticed. This humming/grinding/vibrating sound can only be heard when the car isn't warmed up, after driving for an hour or so, the noise dies down quite a bit.

Not really, it's more of a humming/grinding/vibrating sound that I can only describe as a ship horn. (http://www.123ppt.com/sound-effects/music/320.htm)
What exactly did you replace (power steering pump...) and how much did it cost you?
Did you also experience the sound you're talking about only when the car wasn't warmed up?

I'm having the same problem. It kind sounds like a belts slipping. But it only happens the first couple minutes I'm operating the car while i'm pulling out of my driveway. I guess i need to check the ps fluid?
