VAG-COM won't connect.
Ok, I used this cable: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=43989
The light on the cable is lit when it connects to the car, and when I hit the test button in VAG COM it sees the cable fine.
But it won't connect to any control moduals on the car at all.
I'm using VAG COM 409.1
Any ideas??? I'm at a loss..........

Pooface, (your name cracks me up)
Let me know if you get it to work. I got tired of F'ing with my cheap POS ebay cable. I downloaded the version Jest mentioned, it helped a bit, but couldn't get full communications. As much detail as possible is appreciated.

OK.
So far I have tried:
Serial to laptop with 409
USB to laptop with 409
USB to laptop with 311
In all cases when I hit "test" in vag com everything works fine. But still no comunication with any control modules.
This is so frustrating. I've been driving around with a check engine light for like two weeks now. I'm just too broke to shell out the $250 USD ($310 CAD) for the Ross Tech cable.
Damn.
