Hey, here's the thing, I got my car used from a lot, a 1.8t 01 tip, I also have a 1.8t Passat with 170hp, and I can swear the audi is a lot faster, it simply pulls harder, and its supposed to have 20hp less, so i suspect its chipped, how can i confirm my suspitions???? I have a vag-com interface and the unregisterd software, if its of any help, thanks!!!

 

Other then cracking the ecu/pcm open no. The 01 a4's have 170hp for the 1.8t. I dont know if there is a weight difference between the passat and a4 but if its similar then you may be chipped.

 

hook up a boost gauge, if ur over 10 psi its chipped.....or open the ecu box. or ur passat is real slo

 

it is a good excuse to get a boost gauge.

 

passat weight is 3140, so that aint it, i got the passat new and its only got 20k miles on, well kept, its not slower than stock new, so would cracking opening the ecu much trouble?, and then, what should i look for? the soldering? does the chip itself reads something different? thnxs dudes, itll be awesome to find out i got a chipped car at no cost to me!
P.S. ill also check out one of those boost gauges, if its chipped ill definetly get 710n and race valve, maybe save for a k04

 

dbw cars are flashed so your not going to be able to tell best thing to do is get a boost gauge and tell that way. Do you have any ties to the previous owner if so ask him.

 

damn, i guess ill have to get a boost gauge, jejeje. contacting the previous owner aint a choice cause the car was reposesed then i got it for cheap from a lot, so i suspect the dude will be po'd

 

Probably spent his car payment money on the chip, couldnt make the payment, got repoed.. [&:]
Another way to tell is if its chipped, it should have at least a 710n dv on it.. Check the numbers on the dv.. if its 710N your most likely chipped.

 

find a stock a4 and race him
