URGENT!!! HELP!! engine problem
Hey guys,
I have a 2000 1.8t. This morning (about 20 degrees out), I started the engine, and the whole car is rumbling and making an unhealthy engine noise. After about 20 seconds the check engine light turns on and starts flashing. I repeated the whole process once to make sure, and the same thing happened. Car has 130K on it.
Does it sound like a timing belt problem or what>!?!?!
Thanks

RE: URGENT!!! HELP!! engine problem
Same thing happend to me a while back, all it was was a dead cylinder...the sparkplug wasnt firing...it ended up being that little dealie on top of the air box. swap the coil packs...try again...and if that doesnt help any, check the sparkplugs...and if you FINALLY get a code, check that little power control module.

2000's do not have the power control module get the car vag'd see which cylinder is misfiring switch coil packs with another one and if the problem goes to the other cylinder you have a bad coil pack that sounds like your problem

turned out to be shitty spark plugs that caused my 2nd cylinder to misfire.
moral of the story: dont be cheap when buying spark plugs.
