Default Upgrade Advice Please

Hi All,

I have a 2001 1.8TQ with Tip. I have the engine and tip chips from GIAC, a k&N filter, 710N DV and an AWE Borla exhaust. What else can I do to increase hp without installing a bigger turbo??

There may be some small increases you can get, but with the chips and exhaust already done the biggest bang is going to come from the turbo upgrade. Do you not want to upgrade the turbo?

doa KO4 turbo swap but leave the giac Ko3 chip in. youll get some performance but still have the same gas milage as you do now. actually youll be getting better gas milage if you do a KO4 + KO3 chip

Thanks guys,

I have no major objection to swapping turbos, but I wanted to be sure I had maximized all other options first. Obviously, the turbo upgrade is a fairly costly step and as I have a Tip, I am concerned about over loading the trans.

You could do Downpipe and short shift kit. The downpipe will fit the if you do the ko4 later down the road.

Do you have the TIP chip by giac, that makes a big difference not HP wise but reduces the shift times down to .2 seconds. SPP and EVO make electric fan kits that help with parasite drag. The fan on the car is engine driven, spp and evo make fan kits that make it run off an electric source so your engine isn't wasting power spinnig that fan.
