Default Un-connected hose in engine bay...what is it?

I recently purchased an 01 A4 1.8t Quattro (B6 I believe) and am still getting used to the whole Audi thing...here's my problem.

So I'm looking under the hood just checking things out, when I notice that I see a tube/hose unhooked...just kinda sitting there. I trace it back to where it comes from the best I could and it looks like its coming from somewhere near or on the turbo. Now I start looking around for places that it could connect into and I spot a possible place. There is an unused connection spot right by the oil dipstick...probably an inch or so down and to the right of the very top of the orange tube. Now I assume thats where it could possibly hook in to, but me being no expert, I dont really wanna just go hookin things up. Now I do feel a VERY slight rough idle, so something tells me that this could be some type of vac leak. I have no clue and would very much appreciate any type of help i can get. Thanks guys...and sorry if I left anything out in advance.

I now know that I have a B5..thanks guys.

take pictures and post them... take a picture of where it is connected and where you think it connects and of the hose itself...

first off, you have a B5. B6 starts in 2002.

and it sounds like the hose coming off of your diverter valve.. but without pics. we can't be certain.

try to get a couple pics. one of where the hose starts. and one of where this unused connection is

Just connect it. A vacuum leak could cause your rough idle problem. The line im thinking off should get connected under the intake. That the wastegate solenoid control valve. One end should go to the wastegate, the other to the solenoid valve under the intake near the dipstick tube.

ORIGINAL: turbo kraut

do you mean this one?

No...it runs directly beneath the hose at the bottom that says 15/00 (bad eyes)... and connects directly next to the orange tube.

that is as close to the dipstick as you are going to get unless it is the one on the fpr
