I'm having the same issue with my B6.

When I let go of the gas it sound like I have gooses under my trunk area. and when I REV. it goes into a higher pitch sound.

Whats the cost to replace the pump?

I bet it's the fuel pump. I've replaced two in 2 years. Now there's a recall, at least on my B6 1.8T.

it could be the wheel bering also. I had a problem that sounds like yours. it just depends if you can hear it more on the right, or the left.

Like someone here said there is a re-call on my car so i made an appointment with audi to get it replaced for free...

I guess I got lucky on this one...
