ugly loud noise in rear of car
Hey everyone. I was wondering if you can answer a question or also solve a problem for me. I have had my 2.8 QM for like a month now, and it has this awful buzz at the rear near the gas tank, everytime i press the gas, and it kinda goes with the rpms as well. I spoke to the dealership I got it from ( a BMW dealership) and they told me that the A4 has a loud electric fuel pump or something like that. Is this true? I mean i want to go to an Audi dealer and check it out, but I thought I should ask here first, considering that this is my first Audi (I am or I guess WAS a BMW guy, and I know an E36 inside out, and actually slowly starting to with my A4). Anyway, is there a way to fix it and make that noise go away?

if it is a buzz and not a whirr, could be fuel pump, best thing to do first is to change fuel filter as it is a needed anyway and a dirty filter could be causing the fuel pump to overwork

it is not exhuast related at all, and i guess this is a problem because if it wasnt i would expect other b5 owners to have noticed it too as normal. hmmm... oh yea and it actually is more of a whirr and it is more noticeable when i give the throttle more gas.

I'm having the same issue with my B6.
When I let go of the gas it sound like I have gooses under my trunk area. and when I REV. it goes into a higher pitch sound.
Whats the cost to replace the pump?

Are you sure its not coming from your rear speakers?? My dad's old audi had interference from some electrical part of the car that the stero picked up and made a buzzing/humming noise that went along with the rpms when the stero was on and volume was turned down. Just a thought.
