Default Turbo sound

Hey guys,

Is it normal for a K03 turbo to make a "psssh" sound when I release the gas pedal after it hits about 3000-4000 RPM?

The problem I'm having is that I feel like the "psssh" sound is a lot smoother in the past week. Does cold weather affect anything?

Thanks in advance.

do you have an intake, if you do then it is very audible. I could never hear mine but I just add a billett one installes as well as the evo intake and it is very loud. I love it!!!! Our Cars are the ****. Totally rocked this integra the other day. He wanted to race at a light asked what I had done. I said flash and intake. This is not a lie, but I don't think he knew my car had a turbo. I'm also debaged so there is no t on the back. He had intake exhaust and some minor motor mods and was pretty cocky, but what little chump in a stick ricer isn't. Anyway we both floor it off the line he jumps up a little since he is stick and all then my turbo spools up and I'm pullin HARDd I let off the gas right as I get next to him and shoot that psssshhhhh sound right at his indow. He looks over at me and makes that "son of a b!tch" face and I just hit the gas again and dust him. It was awesome. So yeah both of us at around 45000 rpm and he heard it even over his exhaust. No worries

dude, next time, rev your motor to where your turbo spools up and a car like that will not take you off the line

Thanks for the quick resposes guys. I was scared that my turbo was going dead or something.

I wish it'd snow in California.

Nah, I don't have any mod just yet. That's why I was wondering if I should hear the sound from the turbo.

That was pretty nice beating those rice rockets NuYorka103185.

I love how Audi's don't have any implication of the word "fast" when you look at the car (unless you drive one/know someone who owns one), unlike the Subies/WRX's with the gigantic spoilers and hood scoops. I also heard those gigantic spoilers add 50HP? [sm=happy046.gif]

yeah but that has nothing on those Autozone NOS racing seat covers. 75hp and if the passenger seat has one too, your car isn't even street legal anywhere, for the track only. haha but yeah you should not hear the psshhh stock, you would if you have a boost leak somewhere. I had a boost leak one and could hear a weak psshhh but other then that all you should hear is your turbo wine a little at high rpm

ok, so i ghetto moded my box, i don't wanna take a chance in getting water in my turbo or whatnot, so i pulled out the pass side headlight and drilled in about 6 or so holes, of differing sizes, so the air should come in from the front and right under the intake snorkel, and i do hear my turbo more, not that a ko3 will make that much noise, but i don't even hear a psssh with that and diverter valve

and i have an 01 sport so i have the sport k03 correct?

cause they say the sport model has 170 hp v non sports 150
